About uMngeni Local Municipality (KZN222)

Description: The uMngeni Local Municipality is a Category B municipality situated within the uMgungundlovu District in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. It is one of the seven municipalities that make up the district. It comprises the former Transitional Local Council areas of Howick and Hilton, the Worlds View area, and a substantial amount of farm land. The municipal area has its offices in Howick. A series of spectacular waterfalls surround the area, which is about 29km north-west of Pietermaritzburg. At the centre of this system, nestling on the banks of the uMngeni River in the heart of the Natal Midlands, is the beautiful town of Howick and its pride, the 94m-high Howick Falls.
