About eDumbe Local Municipality (KZN261)
Description: The eDumbe Local Municipality is a Category B municipality situated within the Zululand District in the north-western part of the KwaZulu-Natal Province. It borders with the Mpumalanga Province in the north. It is the smallest of the five municipalities that make up the district, accounting for 13% of its geographical area. The location of the head office is in Paulpietersburg, which is 50km north of Vryheid and 59km south of Mkhondo (previously Piet Retief). The municipal area of jurisdiction is demarcated into eight wards that are predominantly rural in nature. Main Economic Sectors: Agriculture (10.1%), mining (15.6%), manufacturing (7.1%), electricity (2.2%), construction (3.1%), trade (10.7%), transport (10.9%), finance (11.4%), community services (22.4%).
